SANJHA SAHIB’ was founded by Mr. Rohit Verma four years ago with the mission that no individual in India should die of hunger.

  • India is home to the largest undernourished population in the world
  • 15% of our population is undernourished
  • 205 million people go hungry everyday
  • 22 % of children under 5 years of age are underweight
  • 4% of children under 5 years of age are stunted
  • 1 in 4children is malnourished
  • Over 25 lac Indians die of hunger every year

The hunger situation in India still remains “serious” notes the Global Hunger Index, 2018, a report prepared by the International Food Policy Research Institute.

Globally, the report looks at 119 developing countries. The report measures hunger using four data points: undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting, and child mortality. The good news is that the world is less hungry today than it was in 2000, hunger has decreased by 27% since then.

That gives us the comfort that some steps have been taking in the correct direction and that there are like-minded people in our society who have not passed the responsibility to just the state. This gives us hope that every drop of help counts, that no effort is worthwhile and together we can make a difference.

The news from India’s perspective; however, is less positive. India still ranks 100th on that list in ensuring food security for its peoples, placing it at the high end of the ‘serious category.

Not only that, India lags behind even in its own neighborhood. If not the competition then the gravity of the situation should make us sit up and take notice, these hungry, impoverished and starving people exist amidst us, around us and are not limited to any particular age group. We only need to share our bread with them, we only need to care.

Food@Rs5/-
Our short-term target is to establish about 50 food counters (feed approximately 50,000 people per day).
Save Environment
Our second area of focus is on the debilitating effect of pollution on our city.
Free Clothing
Thirdly, clothing the poor appropriately apropos weather conditions. We will be conducting drives to gather clothes and other household utilities.
Free Medication
More Indians die of treatable diseases than lack of access to healthcare. Unable to feed every mouth, how accessible is healthcare to the poor?
Free Education
While child labour is a crime in our country, the unaffordability of education for the masses still makes the abolition of this crime a distant dream.
